The Storyteller - Jodi Picoult: A Book Review

Something for Everyone
Packed with a little bit of everything from historical fiction, a romance love triangle to thriller and mystery, with a writing style that flows smoothly, allowing the many interwoven sub-plots to unravel seamlessly throughout. This book had me eagerly devouring each and every page as though I were starving.
Even the characters who were supposed to be unappealing shone and are portrayed in such a way that it was impossible to not develop empathy for them. Sage is such a selfless, yet troubled in-depth character, it is hard to believe she is fictitious.
The way Picoult describes the plight of the Jews during the holocaust in such an intimate and sensitive way, through the memory of Sage's grandmother is so heart wrenching it reads more like a biographical account.
This is a book I'd be willing to read again and again and still come away with a new way of looking at it. Such a rare gem of a book. Definitely a five-star read.
