The Story Girl - Lucy Maud Montgomery (L. M. Montgomery)

From the Author of Anne of Green Gables...

This book is truly special. It has the classic vibe and really pushes the imagination back to simpler days, where children had more freedom to roam, as well as more chores. It does very much have the same tone and style as Anne of Green Gables, with close friendships and magical imagination like that of Bridge to Terabithia.

The narrator of the tale is a young boy who recently moved to the area and is slowly introduced to the other residents of the neighbourhood, particularly the children of a similar age, many of which are cousins of his that he is meeting for the first time. Through him the reader is told a series of tales, sometimes second and even third hand accounts, most of which he is unable to verify the validity or truthfulness of and all tales are told primarily from a child known to everyone as 'The Story Girl', a young girl with a magical, hypnotic way of telling stories. She has a smooth voice that enraptures all who hear it, even the 'grown ups'.

A great book to read a chapter a day, as each chapter has its own mini story that the Story Girl shares. A very sweet, childish innocence book that you can't help but smile over. A solid four and a half stars from me.
