Secrets of the Book - Erin Fry: A Book Review

You Don't Choose the Book - The Book Chooses You!

I really enjoyed this one. For a kids book, it really is quite in depth. The attention to detail is impressive, particularly in regards to historical accuracy, people and the workings of an autistic mind.

Even though the plot is a typical good vs evil, it is written in a way that makes it fresh, interesting, fast paced and completely new, with a remarkable twist to the tale that just keeps you wanting more - and with all the historical accuracies it allows junior readers to learn whilst enjoying a great story.

It is easy to like and relate to most of the characters, particularly Spencer, the downtrodden nerd with his failing eyesight, Gregor the trusty sidekick who overcomes his own adversities to step up and claim his own moment to shine, even though he is often seen as incapable of a lot of things due to his Autism, he still has his own special abilities that help the heroes along the way.

A solid four stars and highly recommend to young readers between around 9-12 years, depending on their reading level.
