Powerless - Lauren Roberts: A Book Review

The Powerless Trilogy: Book One
This is a classic example of why you should not judge a book by its cover (and evidence that I have not yet learnt this important skill). I literally bought this book because of its brilliant purple cover, even though it is not a genre I have any interest in. Even after reading the blurb, I thought I'd be able to 'get into it'. I was wrong.
The tension between the characters with their 'forbidden love' relationship to me felt like it just kept dragging on, but ultimately going nowhere. The way Paedyn keeps managing to fly under the radar added suspense and mystery in the beginning, but by the time I got half way through the book, it was getting old and every other character in the book seemed to have dangerously low IQ's to have not figured it out.
It needs to be taken into consideration that I never seem to enjoy 'otherworldly' books, so I am not in the intended target audience. It is for that reason I will not be giving a star rating, as it wouldn't be fair. As this is intended to be a Young Adult Fantasy Fiction, I think it would likely appeal to those readers quite well (In saying that, I don't even know anyone in that age bracket, so I have no idea what the 'kids' are into these days - showing my true age here *gulp*).
So my collectors edition is now looking for a new home. I didn't even read it, I listened to the audiobook, as I wanted to keep my copy looking all pretty. I'm still selling it at a fraction of what I paid for it. Click the button below to claim. If the button doesn't work, it means you're too late.
