My MS Readathon Fundraiser
The MS Readathon is hands down one of the best fundraising campaigns in Australia (in my opinion). I have taken part in the MS Readathon every year since I was 6 years old (only a few decades ago *gulp*).
The aim of the Readathon is to pledge to read a certain number of books in the month of August and to get sponsors and donations to support your pledge. The money is used to help fund vital support for families living with Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological conditions, such as epilepsy.
As an epileptic myself, I know how important it is to be able to access such organisations, especially for families with a parent living with a neurological condition, which is why the MS Readathon is close to my heart. Some of the funds from the MS Readathon go towards camps, where children can meet others living in similar circumstances and they can learn more about their parents condition(s). These camps can be life saving.
Even though the Readathon is for the month of August, the project starts a bit earlier and my impatience gets the better of me and I always start as soon as the online portal opens. This year the portal was opened on the 26th of May, so of course, that was when I started reading towards my pledge.
I usually pledge to read 100 books, but I thought I would challenge myself a bit and so this year I pledged to read 150 books in 14 weeks and I am aiming to raise over $1,500. I have been a top fundraiser every year since I started participating, but I have never made it to the very top. I’m hoping to smash that this year.
If you would like to support me with my pledge, you can click the 'Kylie's Readathon' button below, which will take you to my Readathon page, where you can also see what books I’ve read, view pics, and see updates on my progress.
Even if you’re unable to donate, sharing this blog post, or my Readathon portal on your social media pages would help spread the word and raise awareness for MS and other neurological conditions.
Every dollar and every share truly does help.
Thank you for your support.
