Boxing Bootsie - Shelley Swanson Sateren (Adventures at Tabby Towers): A Book Review

Illustrated by Deborah Melmon

The blurb is quite misleading. Bootsie wasn't supposed to be staying with Tabitha at her grandparents. Also, Alfreeda is not Tabitha's friend. Alfreeda wants a friendship, but Tabby is not accomodating until the end of the book - and even then, it's only because Alfreeda deems herself useful by offering to help Tabby in her efforts to keep her cat Bootsie with her for the holidays.

The characters names are quite cute, but the actual characters themselves lack any depth and none of the characters are very likeable. Even though 'Tabby Cat' is the main character and the narrator, she is actually quite annoying and a bit marcissistic, not only in her actions, but her thought pattern is always about her and what she wants, with total disregard to anyone else (human and animals alike). While I can see why this book would be appealing to cat lovers, I still don't think it deserves any more than two stars. Not a book I'd add to my recommendations list.
