Arcane - Sever Bronny: A Book Review

nominated for the Epic Fantasy Fanatics Readers Choice Award

This is not my usual sort of book and when I started, I wasn't really paying too much attention, but by the 10% mark, I was hooked. I love that even though the main characters are all children, they have all lived a life that has forced them to grow up fast and sometimes it's easy to forget just how young they are. The reader is still able to relate to and empathise with the characters, even though they are experiencing a lot of things that the reader hasn't endured.

There really is a lot happening in the background that teach the reader valuable little lessons, like the importance of empathy, trusting your instinct, the true value of friendship and that you can't choose your family, but you can choose how they impact on your own morals. The plot is a lot denser than I usually read these days, but even so, I was able to follow it quite easily, which is a nice change for me, as anyone who knows me will recognise.

I give this book a solid 4-stars. It's a great book for those who enjoy fantasy novels that have more of a realistic vibe and the historical fiction feel to it.
