Tracks - Robyn Davidson
Her epic adventure in pursuit of a dream
$7.99
A young woman's epic adventure in pursuit of a dream.
Robyn Davidson went to the dead heart of Australia in pursuit of a dream - to cross the desert alone. A journey that would take her 1,700 miles across an ancient, secret land; a journey that would work its magic on her life in strange and subtle ways. From an Aboriginal tribal elder she learnt desert sense, and from an Afghani herder she learnt to master, ride and doctor the camels who became her pack animals and companions, as well as to outwit them in their killer moods. Her voyage opened tracks to the discovery of self as well as to the profound beauty and nobility of a threatened land and its indigenous people.
Robyn Davidson was born on a cattle station in Queensland in 1950. She attended a small country town school before going to boarding school in Brisbane. She studied biology at Queensland University and music in Sydney. She returned to Queensland to study Japanese and philosophy, then moved to Alice Springs to prepare for the journey she describes in this book.
